Jason Quigley has ‘mega’ fights in mind after receiving lofty world ranking

Jason Quigley [14(11)-0] claims he is ready for ‘mega fights’ after he moved into third in the latest WBC middleweight world rankings.

The Donegal man returned to the ring after a year out of action when he defeated Daniel Rosario in March and is now ready to make up for some lost time and this week he has been bumped from #6 to #3 in the ladder.

There are those who might suggest the talented Golden Boy middleweight may need a fight or two  before any major 160lbs encounter but the 26-year-old, who despite a  busted right hand overcame Glen Tapia to claim the NABF’s middleweight title before his lay off, is adamant he is ready now.

Indeed, Quigley believes not only is ready for big fights he claims he is ready for ‘mega fights’, which suggests he may be thinking along the lines of Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez – punchers Gary O’Sullivan, who is at #8 in the WBC ladder, has been linked to in recent weeks.

“I’m rising the ladder and ready to climb even higher to lift those straps,” said Quigley, currently at a training camp at the Ingle Gym in Fuerteventura.

“I’m ready for the mega fights now. This is what all my years in the amateurs and my hard work so far as a professional have been for.

“These are the times I’ve been waiting for. I feel I belong at the top of these rankings and I plan to get there.”

Ballybofey’s Quigley is based now in Sheffield under the watch of Dominic Ingle and the Golden Boy Promotions fighter is itching to get back through the ropes again, promising an announcement on his next date soon.

He outlined how “my team at Golden Boy and Sheer Sports have me on the right path and I know we are on the way to the top.”

Kazakh king Gennady Golovkin currently holds the WBC title while Jermall Charlo has an ‘interim’ trinket. Danny Jacobs is then ranked at #1 having beaten Maciej Sulecki in a final eliminator last month.
