Sextuple addition made to Ryan Burnett comeback card

The big card in the Ulster Hall next month has been beefed up by the addition of six undercard fighters.

Ryan Burnett headlines the #MTKFightNight series bill on Friday May 18th in his return from injury and first championship fight at super bantamweight and takes on Filipino Jelbirt Gomera for the WBC International rankings title

Previously confirmed for the card was a tantalising all-Irish super featherweight match-up between Marco McCullough and Declan Geraghty and now the first batch of undercard boxers have been confirmed.

Antrim quartet Sean McComb, Padraig McCrory, Steven Donnelly, and Lewis Crocker were all announced for the show this evening alongside Tyrone youngster Callum Bradley and the professional debut of Armagh’s Sean Duffy.

Turf Lodge light welter McComb [6(3)-0] is back out following his step-up win over Troy James on the Keeler-Cummings 2 bill at the same venue last month and, with two six rounders now under his belt, will be looking for a step-up. ‘The Public Nuisance’ is hoping for a major domestic belt by the end of the year and harbours headline ambitions.

Similarly, St James’s super middle McCrory [7(3)-0] also featured on last month’s card and will also be looking for a step up. Having defeated Sean McGlinchey in a short-notice all-Irish clash last October, ‘The Hammer’ went back to journeymen for his following two bouts. Six rounds in the bag for the first time last month, McCrory will be looking to get in an Irish super middleweight mix alongside the likes of Craig McCarthy and Vladimir Belujsky as soon as possible.

Ballymena light middle Donnelly [4(0)-0] was due to appear last month but saw his fight pulled on the day after his opponent, Chris Jenkinson, was forced out of the match-up having experienced light-headedness. The Olympian is eager to be fast tracked but, having seen two successive fights cancelled, may be in line for a rust-shaker to start off before big things in the summer.

Callum Bradley [1(0)-0] debuted last month, looking slick against Jose Aguilar in what ended up being the lead-in bout to Cummings-Keeler 2. The Omagh feather is being kept busy initially and hopefully gets another good four here.

Keady’s Duffy was due to make his pro bow last month but was not granted his license in time. The Commonwealth bronze medallist, who possesses an exciting pro style, will want to make up for lost time in five weeks from today.

Finally there is Sandy Row welter Crocker [7(6)-0] who will be returning to the ring after NINE long months. The vicious puncher was due to headline the bill at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in December against Martin Harkin for the BBBoC Celtic title but saw this fall through. Still only 22, Crocker has time on his side but will be looking to get busy soon following a frustrating past few months.
