Paddy Gallagher secures massive title fight on Féile card

The big Féile an Phobail card in Belfast next month has seen another major fight added.

It has been announced this afternoon that Lenadoon welterweight Paddy Gallagher will take on British champion Chris Jenkins for the vacant Commonwealth title on the big outdoor August 3rd card.

Gallagher [16(10)-5(0)] is back having destroyed Liam Wells last month and, following this Ulster Hall-hosted fight, will feature at the Falls Park in another major Belfast card.

In Welshman Jenkins [21(8)-3(0)-2] he has a much stiffer test and the chance to add the professional Commonwealth title to the amateur gold medal he won in Delhi back in 2010.

Swansea’s Jenkins dethroned Johnny Garton in March to win the British title in a big upset but the Lonsdale belt is not, at this moment, on the line on Saturday August 3rd.

The fight-anyone former Prizefighter champ has plenty of Irish previous having been narrowly defeated by Phil Sutcliffe Jr before drawing with Darragh Foley when their clash was ended early due to cuts.

Mick Conlan headlines the big Top Rank bill which will be shown live on BT Sport and ESPN+ where he will face Argentinian Diego Alberto Ruiz.

Joining Gallagher vs. Jenkins on a stacked bill are showdowns between Luke Keeler vs. Luis Arias, Alfredo Meli vs. Araik Marutjan, and Padraig McCrory vs. Steve Collins Jr.

Additionally there are fights for Paddy Barnes, Sean McComb, Dee Sullivan, Callum Bradley, and Seanie Duffy.
