Paddy Barnes to take Peruvian warm-up ahead of title defence

Paddy Barnes [3(0)-0] will warm up for his WBO European title defence on Friday in Scotland.

‘The Leprechaun’ appears on the big MTK Scotland bill at the Meadowbank Arena in Edinburgh where he will face Peruvian opposition.

Barnes will box Juan Hinostroza [5(2)-7(0)-1] over six rounds on the BoxNation-aired card.

Born in Oroya, Peru, but now boxing out of Madrid in Spain, Hinostroza is a game away fighter.

The 32 year old is responsible for the only blotch on the record of the controversial Prince Patel. Back when they fought in 2015 Hinostroza was unlucky to only come away with a draw after dropping Patel in the fourth and final round.

The southpaw has also gone the distance with world title challenger Charlie Edwards.

The six rounder will be Barnes’s first fight since winning the WBO European belt in June when he claimed a majority decision win over Silvio Olteanu. The double Olympic bronze medalist will defend this belt next month at the SSE Odyssey Arena on the massive ‘Frampton Reborn’ bill on Saturday November 18th.

Also appearing on the card will be Belfast welter Paddy Gallagher, who defends his BBBoC Celtic title against Glasgow’s Gary Murray.

In addition there is a British heavyweight title fight between Gary Cornish and Sam Sexton, a BBBoC Celtitc super middleweight title fight between Rhys Pagan and Tommy Philbin, a fight between Stephen Simmons and Simon Barclay, and a clash between Stephen Tiffney and Troy James, as well as appearances from Connor Law, Aidan McGlynn, Lewis Benson, Thomas Dickson, and Mony Ogilvie.
