Final opponents confirmed for ‘Celtic Clash 3: Building Champions’

The remaining opponents for the ‘Celtic Clash 3: Building Champions’ card have been confirmed.

The bill is topped by a BUI Celtic featherweight title fight between Eric Donovan and Welsh champ Dai Davies, while a six-round super bantamweight showdown between Carl McDonald and Regan Buckley will be the chief support.

In addition there had previously been a further two all-Irish bouts announced, as well as tricky test for Keane McMahon, and a number of opponents for the debutants on the bill.

Crank Whitehouse [6(1)-0] will box in his first eight rounder against Hungarian Gergo Vari [21(7)-19(9)-1]. The experienced Magyar recently lost on points to Scotland’s Gary Murray, who challenges Belfast’s BBBoC Celtic champ Paddy Gallagher next month. Other notable names on his record include a fourth round stoppage loss to Ted Cheeseman and a second round defeat to Joe Pigford.

On his return after over a year out, Dublin light middleweight Bernard Roe [4(0)-0] will face Valentin Stoychev [8(4)-22(11)-4]. The Bulgarian held Donegal’s Michael McLaughlin Owen to a draw back in the Irishman’s debut in 2010 and has also lost by stoppage to Alfredo Meli and Steve Ormond.

A stand-out performer last time, Sallynoggin lightweight Ste McAfee [1(1)-0] faces Hungarian Attila Horvath [3(3)-6(5)]. Don’t expect this fight to last the distance.

Jobstown bantam Dylan McDonagh finally debuts, and will face Georgi Andonov [3(1)-4(0)]. The Bulgarian featured on Celtic Clash 2, losing on points to Carl McDonald.

Former top underage amateur Chris Mullally is the final debutant on the bill. The Newbridge light heavy fights Przemyslaw Binienda [2(2)-10(5)]. Near-exclusively an away fighter, this will be the Pole’s first fight against an Irishman.
