Nina Meinke looking to prove she is the best against “idol” Katie Taylor

24 year old Nina Meinke [5(2)-0] admits that Katie Taylor is one of her boxing idols, but this wont hold the Berliner back when the pair meet in the ring tomorrow night.

The German southpaw faces Taylor on the massive Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko bill at Wembley Stadium tomorrow night and is ready to test herself on the big stage.

An accomplished amateur, Meinke boxed at the 2014 World Championships in South Korea, where Taylor claimed her fifth and final gold.

While Taylor may be a hero to the Spandau speedster, who boxed as an amateur in both England and Germany, Meinke is planning to get over any nerves and prove that she belongs at the top.

Meinke said that “I’m nervous, but I’m trying to turn it all into positive energy because it’s an event I’ll probably only experience once in my life. It’s great to be here, it’s a massive opportunity.”

“To be honest, she [Taylor] is one of my idols but it’s good to be in the ring with her now so I can see where I’m standing. You’ve got to box the best to be the best.”
