Next fight confirmed for Craig O’Brien ahead of U.S. return


Craig O’Brien [10(1)-1(1)] will have a London lay over before he jets back off to America.

The Irish light middleweight champion has joined ‘The Irish Invasion’ and will fight in London on Saturday June 22nd.

The Inner City Dub will fight for the twelfth time as a pro and the first in the famous venue that is the York Hall on a card that boasts significant Irish interest.

An opponent for ‘The Iron’ has yet to be confirmed, but a keep busy fight is expected for an operator that has recently teamed up with Murphys Boxing in Boston.

O’Brien will hoping to return Stateside later in the year and he could benefit akin to fellow Celtic Warrior Gym fighters Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan, Niall Kennedy, and Ray Moylette with the American link up.

O’Brien outpointed Antonio Chaves Fernandez over six rounds on his American debut in March and has since been linked to Matchroom star Scott Fitzgerald – but a more routine fight in June is next before he will look for some form of breakthrough bout Stateside.

The Paschal Collins-trained fighter will be one of many Irish boxers on the Hellraiser card dubbed ‘The Irish Invasion’.

Irish featherweight champion Eric Donovan was recently confirmed on the fight night, while BUI Celtic light welter champ Victor Rabei, who boxes in Belfast this weekend, has been penciled in for some time.

Stillorgan light middle Cillian Reardon also appears as does Cavan light middle Owen Duffy – in separate contests.

Waterford super middle Craig McCarthy is down to feature before a rumoured return for the ticket seller to his native Waterford.

Young Kerry prospect Kevin Cronin announced he will box in his second professional contest on the bill over the weekend and O’Brien is the latest to be added.
