Next Europa Hotel card CANCELLED

In some unfortunate news, the next card on the Irish boxing schedule has been cancelled.

MHD Promotions were due to run a bill on Saturday September 28th at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.

Cathy McAleer was to headline and face Malawian Ellen Simwaka for the vacant Commonwealth super bantamweight title.

However, the card has been cancelled it has been confirmed today.

In a post to social media, promoter Mark Dunlop said that “I am sorry to have to announce that our September 28th show at the Europa is cancelled.”

“I am very sorry to disappoint those people who had bought tickets, your money will be refunded.”

“We are still working very hard to help Cathy get her Commonwealth Title shot.”

The undercard next month was set to feature Coalisland super featherweight Feargal McCrory in a testing match versus David Birmingham and an outing for Dublin light middleweight Craig O’Brien.

This pair are now also on the look-out for a new fight date.

Dunlop also manages Paul Hyland Jr, Tommy McCarthy, and James Tennyson.

Hyland is currently recovering from a European lightweight title loss to Francisco Patera while McCarthy and Tennyson are both awaiting further details of big fights versus Fabio Turchi and Craig Evans respectively.

The cancellation of the September 28th card means that the next show on the Irish boxing schedule is the Friday October 11th Ulster Hall bill topped by Paddy Barnes v Jay Harris followed quickly by Celtic Clash 9 the night afterwards.
