New York debut nightmare for Aaron McKenna

Monaghan welterweight Aaron McKenna has suffered some last-minute debut heartbreak

The 18 year old Golden Boy prospect was due to make a dream pro debut in the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York.

McKenna was set to feature on the Miguel Cotto v Sadam Ali WBO light middleweight title undercard in the Big Apple, but has seen his bout shelved on the day of the fight.

‘The Silencer,’ had weighed in and done head-to-heads, but has today learnt that his four-round debut has been scrapped due to licensing issues with proposed opponent Victor Eddy Gaytan [2(1)-3(0)] of Mexico.

A new debut date for the youngster will be confirmed in the coming week.
