New fight date for Irish title hopeful Con Sheehan

Con Sheehan [5(1)-0] will be back in the ring very soon as he continues his climb through the ranks.

It has been confirmed this afternoon that the Tipperary heavyweight will box on the Kieran Farrell/MTK Manchester card at the at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester on Saturday May 27th.

Sheehan had been holding out hope that he would feature on the Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury world title undercard in New Zealand this weekend, but saw his chances scuppered when gym mate Fury withdrew from the headline fight with a back injury.

The Munster man last fought in March, outpointing Ferenc Zsalek on the Belfast BoxNation bill at the Waterfront Hall.

Sheehan is currently authorised to face MTK stablemate Sean Turner [10(7)-1(0)] for the Irish title, but this fight may now be put on the long finger following ‘Big Sexy’s’ shock loss last month to dangerous Pole Kamil Sokolowski, an opponent Sheehan defeated in November.

Whatever the plan is, ‘Con The Bomb’ will keep busy here, and the Clonmel big man wont be the only Irishman on the Uncharted Territory bill, with Waterford welterweight Dylan Moran set to debut on the card.

An opponent for Sheehan will be confirmed in the near future.

Also featuring on the show at the end of month will be Craig Bunn, Shack Speares, Tom Aspinall, Lee Clayton, George Brennan, Jake Bulger, Sean Pendry, and Irvin Magno. The card is headlined by a triple-header of title fights, with Darryl Sharp taking on Ben Davies for the Central Area middleweight title, Liam Conroy fighting for the Northern Area light heavyweight title, and Danny Craven facing Nathan McIntosh for a British challenge belt.
