Champ Munguia can’t avoid me forever warns a fired-up and impatient Dennis Hogan

A fired-up Dennis Hogan fears Golden Boy will do all they can to prevent him getting his gloves on WBO champion Jamie Munguia.

The #1 contender understands why his offer to challenge the Mexican on the undercard of next weekend’s massive Gennady Golovkin v Canelo Alvarez undercard in Las Vegas – a card which Spike O’Sullivan features prominently on.

However, if the Mexican comes through Canadian Brandon Cook and looks elsewhere for an opponent, he is more cop-out rather than the next big thing claims ‘The Hurricane’.

“It looks like he going to be Golden Boy’s next golden egg so they will try to protect him for as long as possible. They won’t want him in against the best in the division, which is me,” Hogan told Irish-Noxing.com

“If Munguia gets past Cook next weekend, fighting anyone ranked past me is a cop out. I’ll be world champion anyway so stop biding time, let’s go!”

“I’ve nothing to gain by fighting and beating another fighter as I’m #1 so don’t avoid me next time team Munguia and let’s do this.”

“I know he’s a young hungry fighter, but they know I will cause problems that they don’t get with other fighters and I still haven’t hit top gear yet. No one has tested me to that point in recent years. Munguia and the WBO world title will get me up and I will box like never before! I’m ready for Munguia now.”

Hogan is certainly not one for call outs but, having been forced to wait for his shot, he is becoming somewhat impatient.

The problem the Australian-based Kildare fighter has without official ‘mandatory status’ Munguia can continued to cherry pick from the top 15.

Having been close to a shot last year Hogan beat two WBO top 10 fighters back to back to move into the #1 position, but still has to push to be guaranteed a shot.

“We’re doing everything we can to try secure the mandatory because they will probably avoid this fight for as long as the sanctioning body allow it.”

The fighter, who believed he would fight Liam Smith for the vacant title last year only for Sadam Ali to throw a serious spanner in the works, thinks the fight is marketable around the world and believes it’s one Golden Boy should make.

“Mexican champion versus Irish challanger it makes sense in Australia, New York, Ireland. There are plenty of options in terms of venue let’s go.”

“I only want to fight the best now I’ve picked off good fighters in the top 15, Munguia has done the same so this is the only fight that makes sense next,” Hogan continued before revealing he was ready to take on the freakishly big Mexican in Las Vegas next weekend.

“We would have loved to fought Munguia next weekend. When we seen he was fighting on the GGG-Alvarez undercard six weeks ago, myself and Glenn [Rushton, coach] knew I could be ready for September 15th and the team tried to push for it.

“We made contact but didn’t hear back until two weeks later it was announced that he would be fighting Cook. I get that after a tough fight with Smith and a quick turn around he would have wanted an opponent down the rankings so he chose cook but he will have to fight me soon as I am in the #1 position.”
