Matt Wilton to feature on future Cyclone shows?

Unfortunate news broke yesterday with the announcement that Matthew Wilton will NOT be fighting for the BBBoC Celtic Title next month in Scotland.

The unbeaten Belfast welterweight was due to fight for the title on the undercard of a Cyclone Promotions show in Edinburgh.

However, it emerged that Wilton’s scheduled opponent, unbeaten Scot Matty McAllister, did not accept terms to the fight.

Speaking to Andy Watters of the Irish News, Wilton [11(3)-0] gave his views on the setback, as well as his plans for the future.

On the recent bad news, the 25 year old was able to see the positives, admitting that “it’s disappointing, big time, but there’s positive stuff coming back from the McGuigans, they want me on another show so we’re happy enough.”

Indeed Wilton revealed that Cyclone have kept in contact, and that he may appear on subsequent shows, explaining that “the McGuigans phoned last week and said that they’re going to get me something line up,”

“If they’re coming over here for a big show I could be on it and maybe fight for a title.”

Wilton knows that all he can do for the time being is to keep fighting and keep winning, and he plans to regularly do both in the coming months, noting that “as long as I keep ticking over and keep winning – I’ll maybe have three fights before Christmas”

The unbeaten prospect even predicted a British title tilt, believing that he has the ability to “go for it in the new year.”
