Martin Quinn wants rematch of Francy Luzoho war for a title

Martin Quinn [3(1)-1(0)] has stated that he wants a rematch with Francy Luzoho [1(1)-1(0)] following their thrilling Dublin derby last week.

The Crumlin light welter got the nod over his Blanchardstown rival last Saturday night on the ‘Clash of the Titans’ undercard at the National Stadium.

Referee Emile Tiedt scored the bout 59-56 in Quinn’s favour following a topsy-turvy six rounds but there has been much debate over the verdict, with Luzoho and others feeling he was the deserved victor in what was an opinion-splitting contest.

In the immediate aftermath, adrenaline pumping, Quinn would rule out the possibility of a rematch and called for a clash with BUI Celtic champion Victor Rabei but he has since had a change of heart.

‘Mighty Martin’ now admits that he would like to face Luzoho, a figher he holds a lot of respect for, again and suggested that it could be for a title.

With Rabei set to move on to the Irish title, the eight-round BUI Celtic belt could soon become vacant and it all seems to fit for a big fight on the next major card, hopefully on TG4.

Indeed, with Luzoho having won a Dublin Novice final between the pair (as well as a further walkover), and Quinn taking the pro rematch, a second fight without the vest seems to make perfect sense.

In a post to social media, the popular Quinn said: “Just want to throw it out there Francy Luzoho is a great fighter, what a scrap he gave me, he stood there till the last bell and went to war.”

“He will go far and I think we should have a rematch for a belt if it’s possible.”

“I know I done enough to win, definitely it was a close fight, and thanks for the war mate, well done.”
