Martin Quinn is “living the dream” following magical pro debut

A more famous former ‘Mystic’ Crumlin fighter might be here to take over, but for now ‘Mystic’ Martin Quinn is overjoyed just to take part.

The 30 year old was one of a number debutants on the Celtic Clash 3 card on Saturday night and, whils he managed to stand out somewhat in the ring thanks to a second round stoppage, he was beyond distinctive in the dressing room after.

Quinn was joyous following the victory, so full of adrenaline and excitement that he bounced more in front of the interview mic than he did his first opponent and showed just as much head movement while talking to Irish-Boxing.com as he did on during his pro bow.

The smile said it all. Quinn had seen the impossible pipe dream become reality and was ‘buzzing’ as a result. The Dubliner is happy for now just to be taking part

A beyond jovial Quinn explained that “I honestly never thought going pro was possible. I didn’t see a pathway there for fighters like me, but Stephen [Sharpe] gave me the chance and I have to thank him.”

“This is what it’s all about isn’t it? Living the dream. I jumped on that chance, now I am 30 and a 1-0 pro boxer. I am buzzing – and let’s not forget I started with a bang.”

Quinn certainly did get the stoppage courtesy of a steamrolling start.

In fact one of a number of new pros on the scene delivered on his KO promise, stopping Marcin Fincer in the second round just as predicted pre fight.

“I said I would win second round and I done in him in the second. I had to didn’t I?”

“It was nearly the first, but I felt him out a bit more and I got him in the second. I am strong with both hands, but my right hand is like a gun with these eight ounces on. Man, you can really feel the difference.”

“I am actually glad I went to the second. I have to try take my time. In the amateurs my problem was I tried to quick, but I was a bit more patient. I had to take him out in the second though after what I said. I deliver on my promises!”

So happy was Quinn that he was content just to bask in the moment, but when the obligatory ‘what’s next?’ question reared its head he did have a response.

“I am not looking for anything. I will fight anyone, but I will fight whoever they put in front me. I’ll get three or four out of the way and then we will look for good scraps for the fans.”

“At the minute I am loving it and happy to be here. That doesn’t mean I don’t have plans to go places!”
