Mark Dunlop: Fitzpatrick deal can help bring big Boxnation shows to Belfast

Promoter Mark Dunlop expects the Boxnation TV cameras back in Belfast in the future after his exciting young lightweight prospect Joe Fitzpatrick signed up with Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions.

MGM, Frank Warren and Boxnation put on a successful show in Dublin last weekend with Belfast’s Jamie Conlan topping the bill and indications are that they will be back for up to six shows per year.

Now, Belfast based Dunlop believes that with Fitzpatrick putting pen to paper with Queensbury Promotions and Boxnation’s re-incursion back into Ireland, the stage is set for televised shows in Ireland’s premier boxing city.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com Dunlop said “With Joe signing a contract with Frank Warren and Queensbury probably most of my fighters will end us as Frank Warren fighters soon. A big promoter is a fantastic thing to have behind you and its what Belfast needs.”

“For me the opportunity to bring TV here is fantastic. It gives my fighters the opportunity to show they are worth being on television. With Boxnation and MGM down in Dublin Jamie Conlan was the main attraction and he’s from Belfast. I don’t work with MGM but if we can work together everyone with get the opportunities they deserve.”
