Marco McCullough [15(9)-3(2)] has been hit with a late change of opponent for the Belfast Boxnation ‘Homecoming’ show following the withdrawal of Michael Roberts Jr [18(1)-0-1] .

However, the Shankill man is confident that a strong replacement can be found and that he will still be in a competitive fight.

McCullough’s initial Scottish opponent Roberts has pulled out from their clash at the Titanic Exhibition Centre as he is suffering from a virus.

The bout was intended to be a quick return to high-stakes action for McCullough, who had lost out to Isaac Lowe for the Commonwealth featherweight title back in February. Since then the 26 year old has linked up with MGM and, after just one warm up fight, signed up for another match-up with an unbeaten fighter.

McCullough still wants a major fight, for a rankings title, on the card and told Irish-Boxing.com that a strong replacement is close to being secured, revealing that “they are trying for a Mexican fella, 17-5 with 13 KOs, so another great fight if it gets passed off!”
