Belfast featherweight Marco McCullough [15(9)-3(2)] had a victorious return to the ring last Thursday in Scotland.

Making his MGM debut on a dinner show at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, McCullough comfortably outpointed (60:54) Simas Volosinas over six rounds in his first fight since a Commonwealth title loss to Isaac Lowe back in February on the Frampton v Quigg PPV undercard.

McCullough spoke to Irish-Boxing.com about his comeback win under a new team and explained how “it felt great to be back in the ring again.”

“I had a plan of things I had to work on and everything went to plan.”

“It was different not having John Breen in the corner, Gerry Storey Jr done a great job though and just had me using my brain every round.”

The 26 year old is now looking to the future following a tough couple of months and notes how “I was glad to get out and shake of the ring rust but now I can’t wait for the big fights to come again.”

“I seem to have a great team around me now and a team who are there for me so I’ll leave the plans down to them and I just hope to keep active and the big fights will come my way.”

Next up for McCullough is a slot on the Belfast Boxnation undercard at the Titanic Exhibition Centre, and the Shankill Road man is excited to get the chance to show his development in front of a home crowd. He described how “the Belfast show has just come at the right time for me to get back out there and show a different side of my boxing.”
