Dublin Promoter looking for new fighters to turn pro

Trainer, manager, promoter, and all-round Irish boxing legend Tony Davitt is looking for some new talent as he doubles down on the Dublin scene.

Following decades in amateur boxing, veteran Davitt has moved into the pro game in recent years, first running shows independently at the Red Cow Moran Hotel before teaming up with Boxing Ireland Promotions to revive the Celtic Clash series.

After years away with elite Irish teams – including cornering Ian Tims when he defeated Tony Bellew – Davitt has since further shown himself to have a keen eye for a diamond in the rough.

The old-school boxing man has successfully transitioned intermediate-level amateurs John Joyce and Niall O’Connor into genuine pro prospects who boast healthy records and are closing in on minor title fights.

While many are rushing to write obituaries for boxing in Dublin, Davitt believes it is alive and kicking and is keen to turn more fighters professional and is open to enquiries from all level of fighters looking to make the move.

The Drimnagh man told Irish-Boxing.com that “I want a few new guys, anyone that’s looking to turn pro get in touch with me and I’ll see what you’ve got.”

“I’ve been involved in eight shows in Dublin over the last few years, more than anyone else. I can offer reliability – regular fight dates, in Dublin, keep you busy – and I can coach, manage, and promote you.”

“It’s not easy work, for me or the fighters, it’s a pain sometimes! But I will give my time to anyone with talent who is willing to work hard.”

Davitt co-promotes ‘Celtic Clash 6’ next Saturday [July 14th] at Good Counsel GAA Club in Drimnagh, the fifth such show in under 14 months, which features both Joyce and O’Connor who are looking to move to 6-0 and 4-0 respectively.

Any prospective fighters interested in meeting with Davitt should contact him at 086 312 5682.
