Maguire excited about MGM debut at Villa Park this weekend

He shaved the Willie Nelson ‘viking’ beard, but David Maguire is still singing from the ‘one day at a time’ hymn sheet.

Well one fight at a time to be more specific! The Dubliner raised some eyebrows with a debut victory over tough Belfast based journey man Moses Matovu, but isn’t one to add fuel to any potential hype talk.

At 37 Maguire is happy to take it one fight at a time and enjoy life as a pro puncher.

Considering he is working out of Macklin’s Gym Marbella now the former Celtic Warrior Gym big man will find those fights coming on a regular bases. However is just focused on getting the win on a card that includes Declan Geraghty and John Hutchinson.

“I’m really enjoying it here with MGM I couldn’t possibly be in a better place,” Maguire told irish-boxing.com.

“it really is a great platform to build from. They have high expectations for all their fighters and like them to be kept busy.

“I am excited about this Saturday night. I can’t wait to get in there  and make my MGM debut. I am looking to make it 2-0. I know my opponent, but I didn’t look into him. I am just focusing on my capabilities. I am not predicting a knock out but if opportunity opens up for stoppage I’ll take it,” he added before reiterating his one fight at a time mantra.

“in terms of plans for rest of year and beyond I’ll talk one fight at a time, sit back down with my team MGM family and talk what is next after each fight.”
