Lynn Harvey hoping to make disruptive rival pay

Kitti Kolompar [1(1)-4(2)] has not endeared herself to Lynn Harvey [4(3)-1(0)] over the last few weeks and the Hungarian puncher could pay for it tonight.

Twice the joureywoman has given Harvey a ‘heart attack’ but the pair will finally meet in the ring tonight at Good Counsel GAA Club in Drimnagh.

The Kilbarrack flyweight was due to make her return to the ring last month on the Assassin Boxing ‘Rise Again’ bill versus Kolompar only for the Hungarian to miss her flight and leave Harvey hanging.

Kolompar has again been matched with Harvey for tonight’s Boxing Ireland ‘Celtic Clash 7’ show but missed her flight yesterday. Thankfully a new flight was booked for the Magyar and she is now in Dublin and will trade leather with ‘The Hunter’ in a few hours time.

Intended to be an opponent to give Harvey rounds, the Dubliner is in a knockout mood in terms of this particular foe.

“She has given me a heart attack twice now – I would enjoy stopping her!” Harvey told Irish-Boxing.com.

“They specifically selected a girl that could allow me to get rounds in. I believe this girl is very durable. I know normally I do stop them. If I can stop her I will.”

Having returned from retirement last month, the double non-appearance of Kolompar has been a blow for Harvey but she soldiers on.

“It’s tough,” she admits.

“I retired because my head was wrecked over stuff then I picked myself up to get back then to get knocked after making that big decision to come back in the first place, then to get knocked again and again, it is, it is hard.”

“Then I come in today [to the weigh-in] and get told my opponent forgot her ID at the airport so she is not here today, but apparrently the flight is booked and she will be here in the morning.”

“For someone like me, I am skeptical, it’s been so many times I have to prepare myself [for disappointment] just in case.”

Thankfully Kolompar successfully boarded a flight – at last – in the early hours of this morning, and Harvey can’t wait to be finally back in the ring.

The 37-year-old outlined how “I feel I have been in camp for months.”

“That’s what I feel like. I can’t wait. I am looking forward to the fight but to be honest I am looking forward to getting it over and done with so I can relax.”

“It would be different if it was just one camp, that would be grand, but I feel like I have been in camp for months for this. I can’t wait to get her over and done with.”

“I have been with Steven O’Rourke since May and I have Steven and Reg Byrne doing my corner, because he has Reg on board now. Reg has been a big part of my camp as well. Three brains are better than one.”

“I am not expecting a quick stoppage nor do I want that. I had loads of them and to be fair they were not too easy opponents ether..

Earlier this month a fight between Harvey and Sarah Bormann [6(5)-0] was put forward for a big card in Germany next month but the former National Elite light fly champion reveals that this bout won’t be happening in the immediate future.

The big-punching Northsider explained how “I got asked to come over and fight a girl but they chose someone else. We agreed to the fight, but when it came to the final thing they decided to go with someone else.”

“I think they may be looking at me further down the line. I will decide then if it’s the right time for me, but it’s not happening now.

“I have no idea [if they think I’m too dangerous] but I know the girl I am fighting fought this girl, so maybe they want to see. I believe that girl stopped her in the first round so maybe the want to see how I do, do I go the distance or do I stop her? Who knows?”

“I didn’t give it too much thought to be honest. It happened over two days and I didn’t get my hopes up, as I said, I am so used to disapointment at this stage.”

“Now this fight is happening I am dying to get it over and done with. I am glad I don’t have the other one because I am ready to just have a fight and go out and have a few drinks or something like that.”
