Luke Jackson takes aim at Carl Frampton – AGAIN

Luke Jackson [16(7)-0] believes he is getting Carl Frampton at just the right time.

While he remains one of the biggest names in the featherweight division, Jackson feels ‘The Jackal’ peaked two years ago and has been on a downward spiral since.

Australian Jackson comes to Belfast next week to face the home hero at Windsor Park football stadium on August 18th and the super-confident Tasmanian is convinced he will get the win.

Labelling Frampton [25(14)-1(0)] a well-rounded fighter, Jackson has stated that he will get the win and change his life versus a boxer he feels is in decline.

The 33-year-old described how “Across the board he [Frampton] is phenomenal, but I don’t think he is as good as he once was.”

“In the first fight against Leo Santa Cruz he boxed out of his skin and deserved to win, but he hasn’t looked the same since.”

“Carl is a very good fighter who does everything good, but I don’t honestly think he does anything great.”

Frampton has snapped back at Jackson numerous times in recent weeks with the visitor having taken aim at both his amateur achievements and the physical shape he is in.

Jackson has since implied that event promoter Frank Warren has twisted his words but today’s quotes – also provided by Warren – mark another verbal jab from the Aussie.

Indeed, Jackson is also quoted on what reaction this statement will elicit from 31-year-old Frampton – who puts his WBO interim belt on the line next week.

The London Olympian noted how “we are going to punch each other in the head. I don’t really care if what I say upsets him.”

“I respect him as a fighter, I respect him as a man but I am coming to beat him, not coming over to be friends.”

“I don’t know if he wants me to call him a Hall of Fame fighter or the greatest, but I don’t think he is.”

“He is very beatable and I think I can beat him, simple as that,” added Jackson ahead of the BT Sport fight night.
