Luke Jackson reveals the punch he will drop Carl Frampton with

You can call it a dream, a delusion, or pre-determination, but Luke Jackson has already seen how his fight with Carl Frampton will play out.

The confident Aussie faces the Belfast favourite at Windsor Park football stadium on August 18th and he already ‘knows’ the punch he will put Frampton down with.

Jackson [16(7)-0] is looking to take the WBO interim featherweight title from ‘The Jackal’ and launch his career in the pros and he believes he will do so with a right hand.

It’s a big claim from a fighter who admits he lacks punching power but he is utterly convinced as he rounds off his preparations before coming to Ireland for the fight in two week’s time.

Speaking while on punditry duties for Fox Sports Australia today before the Tevin Farmer v Billy Dib vacant IBF super featherweight title fight, the Tasmanian revealed that “I’ve got a sixth sense about this, I’ve envisioned that I drop him with a right hand.”

“I didn’t want to say that but that’s just something that keeps playing in my mind.”

“I don’t know what’s going on because I know I’m not a puncher but it’s a vision.”

“I don’t know if it’s something we’ve worked on, me and Billy Hussein [trainer], but that’s what I see.”

The 33-year-old underdog has irked Frampton in the build-up to the fight – although Jackson claims his words have been twisted by Queensberry Promotions.

Away from smack talk, the London Olympian is promising the best ever Luke Jackson on August 18th, drawing confidence from his preparations.

Jackson outlined how “I’ve come to Sydney earlier – usually I’d only have four weeks here but I’ve come for eight.”

“One thing I’ve really tried to do this training camp is enjoy every day and not wish it away – sometimes in training camp you wish it away [thinking] ‘oh I can’t wait to eat, can’t wait to do this’.”

“I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve stayed focused in the gym and I haven’t taken it for granted. I’ve worked my strength hard and I’m feeling great.”

“It’s two weeks to go, my weight’s good, I’ve got my last sparring session tomorrow, we’ve done everything right.”

“We’re leaving on Wednesday to head to Dubai, we’ll stay there for five days and then we head to Belfast for fight week.”

Jackson has embraced the build-up to the big fight – far bigger than any of his previous pro contests – and does not think he will be overawed by the occasion.

While almost 100% of the expected 25,000 fans at Windsor will be cheering for Frampton, the Down Under wonder feels any impact from the atmosphere is overplayed.

The WBO #5 explained how “it’s something I’ve worked my whole life to get to so I’m going to embrace it.”

When you’re fighting in front of thousands of people, which I’ve done before, if they’re screaming for you or screaming for your opponent, it’s just noise. If you hit them or they hit you there’s noise, it doesn’t matter.”

“If you can deal with the noise and just stay relaxed it’s not a problem and I don’t think it will be a problem for me.”

“At the end of the day, I’m a massive underdog but when you’ve got two people it’s a 50-50 fight.”
