Low Blows: Stephen ‘Shortty’ Carroll

Top Pro Gif Ad
Every Wednesday we give Irish boxers the chance to lift the lid on what their fellow fighters are really like.

This week it is the turn of Ballyfermot light welterweight Stephen ‘Shortty’ Carroll [2(0)-0].

Q: Hardest Trainer?
A: Phil Sutcliffe
always had a natural fitness. He could do an hour sprints after weeks off from training..

Q: Biggest Moaner?
A: Sean Turner
. He would do twenty minutes on the cross trainer and want to go home. And Michael Carruth bought it just for him so he would train.

Q: Funniest?
A: Sean McComb.
The stuff he comes out with. We went away to Latvia and he was always cracking the jokes. Some poor girl had a bad oul hair cut and he thought he would ask ”who cut your fringe?” Our jaws were sore for the rest of that day.

Q: Biggest Ladies Man?
A: Martin Wal
l can get a woman at any time of the day. I have a few stories that are not suitable for for publishing!

Q: Hardest Puncher?
A:
It’s between Michael O’Reilly and Ross Hickey. I’ve had two wars with Ross. I still remember that right hook he caught me with, the papers got a nice snap of it too. Me and Michael have had some hard spars, some toe-to-toe stuff, and anyone who spars him can say the same.

Q: Most Naturally Talented?
A:
That would be Gavin Keating. He does be throwing crazy punches from crazy angels and make it seem so easy.

Q: Cheapest?
A:
Cheapest would have to be Jason Conroy. He wouldn’t spend a penny when we were in Spain but still managed to be locked every night.

Q: Worst Dancer?
A: Keith Monks.
In Spain he really thought he could drop it like it’s hot… until we looked back on photos and saw the mullet hair cuts.

Q: Worst Dress Sense?
A: Micka Stephens.
He wears his Penney’s runners so tight his laces are committing suicide.

Q: Biggest Messer?
A:
Would be Pat Walsh. One or two pints and there’s no stopping him. He will be over with the biggest, fattest, and ugliest woman in the club, dry humping her leg for another freebie pint.
