Low Blows: Big Con Sheehan

Top Pro Gif Ad
On Wednesdays we give Irish fighters the chance to aim a few digs at their fellow boxers in Low Blows.

This week it’s the turn of EU gold and silver medalist and current 1(1)-0 professional heavyweight Con Sheehan

Q: Hardest Trainer?
A: Has to be Jason Quigley. No matter what he always took his time and got the session done. There was often times we would be finished weights, had our lunch, and come back, and he would still be doing his weights.

Q: Biggest Moaner?
A: That would probably be myself or Tommy McCarthy. Most of the training in the HPU was suited to the lighter lads, and me and Tommy weren’t shy about letting eveyone know! Tommy probably more so than me to be fair.

Q: Funniest?
A: Again Tommy McCarthy is by far the funniest. The man makes a joke of anything and is brilliant at impersonating people. We’ll see him on the big screens yet I reckon.

Q: Biggest Ladies Man?
A: Have to give that to Declan Geraghty, he was some boy for the women in fairness. How is another question, but he always had something strange on the go no matter where we were.

Q: Most Intelligent
A: Darren O’Neill. He was just a big dork that would always correct every one on grammer and other stuff. But he’s a soul that could spark most lads out so he got away with it

Q: Least Intelligent?
A: There’s a few that could fit that. Mostly the lads from Dublin, they have no idea of anything outside the city, they are absolutely clueless.

Q: Hardest Puncher?
A: Tommy McCarthy and Darren O’Neill are up there, but Phil Sutcliffe has to be the hardest puncher I remember doing a round of body sparring with. One day he near cracked my ribs with a jab, savage power he has.

Q: Most Naturally Talented?
A: It’s a toss up between Mick Conlan and Joe Ward. Mick picked things up so fast, but Joe is just gifted, stuff comes to him effortlessly. Mick works hard on stuff, Joe just does what he wants, he’s a freak.

Q: Cheapest
A: Ray Moylette without a doubt. He was leaving from the Europeans in Belarus early one year and wouldn’t even leave the few Pot Noodles he had left over! That’s no joke and that stuff happened a few times too.

Q: Worst Dancer?
A: Paddy Barnes. I don’t know why he even tries, he looks ridiculous

Q: Worst Dress Sense?
A: Has to be Roy Sheahan, he came out with some terrible stuff, but pulled ’em off well to be fair I suppose.

Q: Biggest Messer?
A: Tyrone McCullagh is dangerous. He says nothing, but you could find your gear bag full to the brim with shower gel or, worse again, burnt. But Roy Sheahan would torture anyone and everyone, coaches and boxers. It’s a rookie mistake to be around Roy without having your pants tied tight, otherwise they’ll end up around your ankles. He was always the last to go asleep too so nobody was safe, he was a menace.
