Lindsay possible British title fight my reason to fight on

MARTIN Lindsay is using a possible British title assault as a reason to fight on.

‘The Mac Man’ returns to the ring for the first time since his Lee Selby reverse, which played out on the under card of Carl Frampton’s European title win over Kiko Martinez on April 25-and he returns to action on a domestic mission.

The popular ticket seller’s wants to regain the British title back he lost in Belfast back in 2010.

“I need something to motivate me and a chance to fight for a British title again, is great motivation.

Once I get this six rounder out of the way – I should get the chance to fight for the British title.

“I fought the wrong fight that night against John Simpson at the King’s Hall and I want to put the record straight by regaining the title and then we see where I go from there,” Lindsay told the Belfast Newsletter.

The former Immaculata amateur is confident he isn’t too far away from another featherweight title tilt.

“I have a six rounder in April and if I can through that ok, it looks like I will be made the mandatory challenger for the British title. Selby is now the European champion and he has the Lonsdale belt, so he should be moving on.

“If that happens I want my British title back and I am determined to get the job done.I am good shape because I have always been in the gym and I have been sparring with the lads who were getting ready for the National Elite Finals and few of the young professionals,” he added.
