Lindsay: I don’t think you will see me in the ring again

LAST Wednesday night’s British and Commonwealth title fight might not only prove Martin Lindsay’s last shot at the big time, but his last ever fight.

The 32 year old former British Champion lost out on ponits to Josh Warrington in Leeds midweek and indicated after that he may never lace up his gloves again.

Lindsay, who debut against Dai Davis back in 2004, lost to the up and coming talent by a wide points margin and feels its time to bow out.

The ‘Mac Man’ isn’t too old at just 32, but having lost to Lee Selby and Warrington when trying to win back the British title isn’t too keen to go on. The popular and talented Belfast featherweight isn’t keen to drop down a level and doesn’t want to become a gateway fighter.

“I don’t think you’ll see me back in the ring again. I always said that I wouldn’t want to hang around and just end up a name on somebody’s record, somebody who is up and coming.

“I feel so gutted and I’ll think about things over the next couple of days but I can’t see me boxing again.

“Warrington’s a nice guy, he came into the dressing room afterwards and said that I hurt him a few times but I just couldn’t land the punches I wanted to,” Lindsay told the Belfast Telegraph.
