Lewis Crocker hoping for undercard slot on Frampton homecoming bill

Lewis Crocker doesn’t hang about in the ring, and he wouldn’t mind another brief but memorable outing next month.

The big punching prospect’s first two bouts lasted a combined five minutes and he is certainly a ‘you don’t get paid for overtime’ advocate.

‘The Croc’ makes no bones about reveling in KO success, but while he has the extra fast approach to taking his opponents out, he is no rush when it comes to career progression.

After flooring Bulgarian Radoslav Mitev on the ‘Battle of Belfast’ bill last Saturday, the Sandy Road puncher was asked if already felt ready to move up another level.

However, the 20 year old all but warned against reading too much into his two wins and claimed he is more than willing to continue learning before talking about titles.

“I am only 20 and you see world class lads getting easy fights on big pay per view cards so I don’t mind getting work out fights for the next year or two before I am challenging for titles,” the Ray Ginley-coached pro explained.

While he wants to learn, and show he is more than a big bang merchant, Crocker isn’t one for banking rounds.

The vaunted prospect remains keen to continue his knockout run.

“I like winning inside the distance. It was a good work out I enjoyed it. When I was hitting him I could hear him groan, but I took my time and waited for the big finish.”

“I picked my shots a bit more. I felt comfortable. The boys know what I can do in the gym and it’s just a matter of time before everyone else sees it. People will see I am not just a big puncher.”

Crocker wants to show off that talent on what promises to be a massive card in Belfast on July 29th.

A place on Carl Frampton‘s homecoming card at the SSE Odyssey Arena is the golden ticket in Belfast at present and the fighter, who ‘The Jackal’ is a massive fan of, hopes to get on the card.

Crocker, who spent a stint training with Frampton at McGuigan’s Gym last year, stated that “hopefully we can get on the Frampton card. I would love to get on that everyone wants on it. Carl always gives me nice messages on social media, fair play to him and I am a big big fan of his.”
