Lewis Crocker changes coach ahead of pro debut

Lewis Crocker has switched trainers ahead of his entry into the professional ranks.

The Belfast welter had initially been training with the legendary John Breen ahead of a scheduled date at the Titanic Exhibition Centre last November.

Crocker, who turned 20 last week, subsequently missed this debut date as he was forced to undergo surgery on his nose to rectify a breathing problem.

Since then the big-punching former underage star has linked up with Macklin’s Gym Marbella, with a managerial deal being announced this afternoon.

In addition to this, Crocker has left Breen and has joined forces with young trainer Ray Ginley, with the 23 year old confirming the news to Irish-Boxing.com today.

Ginley had an impressive, albeit short-lived, professional career as a destructive super middleweight between 2012 and 2014 where he racked up six wins including three knockouts.

Crocker joins Mathew Fitzsimons, Gerard Healy, and Joe Hillerby at Ginley and fellow former pro Dee Walsh’s growing stable at the Emerald club in Lenadoon, with more big names rumoured to be linking up with the duo soon.
