Lewis Crocker scores another big Belfast knockout

Lewis Crocker scored another devastating stoppage tonight in Belfast at the Waterfront Hall.

In his debut at the same venue back in March, Crocker had taken 67 seconds to dispose of Hungarian Ferenc Jarko. Tonight on the ‘Battle of Belfast’ bill, the Belfast welterweight would go into the second round, but scored another sensational stoppage of Bulgarian Radoslav Mitev.

The decision to feature Crocker on the untelevised portion of the bill caused controversy, although thankfully the cameras were brought out to record the contest, and the Sandy Row puncher again scored a stoppage.

Mitev was seen as a step up for the Ulsterman, but Crocker was utterly dominant for the entirety of the contest.

Following a patient start, a huge bodyshot from Crocker seemed to sap the fight out of Mitev. The South Belfast youngster continued to stalk forward and had the Bulgarian slumped on the ropes before the experienced journeyman was able to grab hold and be saved by the bell.

A straight right rocked Mitev’s head back in the second and the Bulgarian was looking to hold more and more. When he eventually did open up to trade, Crocker caught the journeyman with a beautiful short left hook that put him down. Mitev rose at nine, but the bout was waved off, much to his displeasure.

The win sees Crocker extend his perfect start to professional life to 2(2)-0, while the game but outgunned Mitev falls to 9(2)-32(14)-1.
