Leinster Rugby coach signs pro boxing deal

Assassin Promotions have added more Irish talent to their stable and have secured the signature middleweight prospect Cillian Reardon [1(0)-0].

The Leinster Rugby Head of Strength and Conditioning caught the eye with a surprisingly skilful debut against light heavyweight opposition in front of a host of Irish and Leinster rugby internationals on the Last Man Standing card in Dublin last month

Assassin, who co-promoted the March 3rd event with Red Corner, were obviously impressed and moved to sign up the former Monkstown BC amateur.

‘Killer’ joins the likes of Ray Moylette, the McDonagh brothers, Jordan Latimer, Darren Cruise, and Victor Rabei as Irish fighters on the promotional and managerial outfit’s books.

The Stillorgan man fights out of St Michael’s Inchicore alongside the likes of Rabei, Roy Sheahan, Craig McCarthy, and top amateur Tony Browne.

Having seen attempts to debut twice fall through before he first punched for pay in March, as well as a subsquent scrapped fight date, Reardon will be happy to have backing as he sets out on his pro journey.

The fact they are planning three TV shows in 2018 will also prove both comforting and motivating for the Steven O’Rourke-trained coach.

Speaking about the signing, Assassin’s Conor Slater told Irish-Boxing.com,

“We are delighted with adding Cillian to the team and he is a welcome addition. We plan to keep him busy this year. He will fight in York Hall in the Summer then hopefully he will be on the shows we have in Ireland. We will keep him as active as possible and help him progress with good fights.”
