Lee-Saunders press conference to announce third date postponed

The seemingly never-ending Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders saga has hit another bump after yet another postponement. A new date and venue, rumoured to either Manchester or London on December 19th, was due to be announced today at a press conference in London.

However, the promoters informed media that the conference, which will be the forth so far, has been pushed back to an as-of-yet unannounced date.

“The Andy Lee-Billy Joe Saunders press conference scheduled for Monday 5th October has been postponed.”

“A rescheduled date will be announced shortly and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The fight between WBO middleweight champ Lee and mandatory challenger Saunders has been beset by bad luck.

The original fight date of September 19th at Thomond Park in Lee’s hometown of Limerick had to be postponed due to a virus suffered by the champ.

The rescheduled date, October 10th in the Manchester Arena, then also was postponed after the English challenger suffered a nasty gash in sparring.

The postponement of the press conference however is more procedural rather than another problem as Frank Warren Promotions have informed Irish-Boxing.com that the  postponement was because it was felt that it was too close to the fight week activity in Manchester this week for the October 10 show.
