Lee eager to keep active

Irish middleweight contender Andy Lee is hoping to blow another opponent away on a May 20 Windy City fight card. Lee, who is coming off a knockout victory over Scotland’s Craig McEwan, is in talks over a much anticipated rematch with Texan Bryan Vera, but is so eager to keep busy he requested that his team secured a fight before what could prove a career defining bout.

The Limerick southpaw confirmed the promoters of the Windy City card are eager to bring the Kronk fighter back to the venue were he beat Michael Walker late last year, but revealed that no official agreement has been made as of yet. Lee also revealed he didnt take much of a break despite battling 10 tough rounds against McEwan on March 12, pointing out he would be fit to fight as early as next month.

The fight’s not set in stone yet but it’s looking likely that I’ll be fighting on the 20th of May, Lee told www.Irish-boxing.com.

I didn’t take much time off after the McEwan fight; I was back in the gym the next week. I like fighting regularly and staying busy, so after a couple of weeks training I asked Emanuel if he could arrange a fight for me. No opponent is lined up yet and nothing has been signed but the promoter is keen to have me on so it’s looking good.”
