Learning continues for World Title keen Cathy McAleer

Cathy McAleer [1(0)-0] is hoping her boxing journey will provide her with a fourth world title success.

The 40-year-old finally debuted in a pro boxing ring on the Back in Belfast card in November.

The Belfast super fly experienced a baptism of fire and came out on top of a tough opener versus Teodora Hristova and is now keen to kick on.

Indeed, the former karate and kickboxing world champ wants to emulate that success in the world of boxing.

McAleer, who has signed a three-fight deal with Mark Dunlop and MHD Promotions, returns to action at the Ulster Hall on the ‘A Night To Remember’ card and is looking forward to the next step on a what she hopes will be a fruitful journey.

“I have only started my journey as a professional boxer and I am taking one step at a time,” explained the prospect to Irish-Boxing.com. 

“Moving from karate to kickboxing to now boxing Id like to add a fourth world title to my collection, but I’ve a long way to go and I’ve a big journey ahead of me and it’s exciting.”

It’s a dream big approach from the new boxer but veteran combat sports operator and McAleer seems aware there is hard work and learning to be done

However, she seems to have a solid team around her in John Breen, Dunlop and co, not to mention she brings a big fan base with her from her time in other codes.

Indeed, she expects to get more learning done in between now and her February 9th return and predicts her fans will raise the roof as boxing returns to the Ulster Hall for the first time since 2012.

“I can’t wait to get back in and continue my journey and learning. The Belfast support I have is unreal, they will lift the roof on the 9th February,” she added before stressing how excited she is to be trading leather in such an iconic venue. 

“I am over the moon to be fighting in the Ulster Hall. I got the news I was over the moon to join such an outstanding fight card line up and boxers at the venue. And what an honour it is to have that privilege.”

Also on the first Irish card of the New Year is James Tennyson, Paul Hyland Jr, Tommy McCarthy, Feargal McGrory versus Karl Kelly in an Irish title fight, Luke Wilton, Mathew Fitzsimons. and a West Belfast derby between Joe Fitzpatrick and Stephen Webb.
