Kid Shamrock JJ Metcalf to fight former Commonwealth champion next

JJ Metcalf [13(6)-0] will take a step-up in class on October 7th when he headlines the MGM Liverpool ‘Genesis’ card at the Greenbank Sports Academy.

The Liverpool-born light middleweight, son of the Shamrock Express Shea Neary, will take on former Commonwealth champion and British and European title challenger Bradley Pryce [37(19)-20(4)].

While Pryce may be somewhat past his best, he still represents by far the toughest test of ‘Kid Shamrock’s’ career so far. In the past ‘Sugar Sweet’ was stopped in the eighth round by Belfast’s Neil Sinclair when he challenged for Sinky’s British welterweight title at the Odyssey Arena in 2003 – and also lost to former Irish champion Frankie Gavin in 2013. The Welshman got some semblance of revenge over Sinclair in 2010 when he claimed a split-decision win in the Prizefighter semi-finals

28 year old Metcalf, who has Irish title ambitions, will be looking for a statement win in his first bout as a headliner as he looks to move into championship fights.

Also appearing on the card in Liverpool will be Luke Keeler-defeater Tom Doran, Brandon Daord, Ryan Moorhead, John Quigley, Tommy Carus, Gerard Carroll, and debutant Sam Maxwell.
