‘Kid Shamrock’ added to MGM Birmingham show

Liverpudlian light middleweight JJ Metcalf [12(6)-0] will fight on the inaugural MGM Birmingham show next month at the Tudor Grange Leisure Centre, Solihull.

The Irish title hopeful fought recently on the Tony Bellew-Junior Makabu undercard at Goodison Park, scoring a first round stoppage over the then-unbeaten Tom Knight.

The son of Shea Neary, who was due to fight on the cancelled Roadstone show in February, will now box again on July 9th on a card topped by Dublin-Brummie Michael Rooney.

With the release of the news Metcalf said “I’m delighted to be out so soon again, I need the rounds but if I can get the stoppage like I did at Goodison Park then so be it.”

“I’m looking forward to fighting on MGM Birmingham’s first show and it will leave me in good shape going into the new season.”

Also featuring on next month’s Midlands card is the ‘Buncrana Banger’ John Hutchinson.
