“A man against a boy” – Jono Carroll promises Declan Geraghty domination

Jono Carroll [15(2)-0] has reignited hostilities ahead of his grudge rematch with Declan Geraghty next month.

The Dublin super featherweight pair lock horns once again on the Mick Conlan homecoming undercard at the SSE Odyssey Arena in Belfast on Saturday June 30th.

A repeat of their early-career clash in Dublin back in 2014 where Geraghty [17(4)-2(1)] was disqualified in the fourth and final round, Carroll believes he is better in all departments – mentally, physically, and technically.

‘King Kong’, who will put his IBF Inter-Continental title and #7 ranking on the line, is supremely confident ahead of the rematch

“It’s going to be a man against a boy in there strength-wise both physically and mentally,” he promised.

“Mentally, he’s a child and he’s not going to want what I give him.”

“I’m not saying I’ll go steaming forward because I don’t need to. I can beat him in any way. Whatever he does best, I’ll take it away from him.”

Carroll, who goaded Geraghty into a brawl back in 2014, feels he has now improved and developed to a level where he can outbox the former Elite amateur.

The Marbella-based boxer reasoned how “I beat him in my third fight and I’ve won all 15 now with improvement every time. If I’m able to beat him after two previous professional fights then I’m going to be even better now.”

“I truly believe I’m a better technical boxer and a better actual ‘fighter’ too. Every part of my game is better than his.”

“He says he’s a better boxer than me. He was a decent amateur and probably should’ve stayed amateur but I find it funny he thinks he’s the better boxer.”

“He’s absolutely delusional.”

The fight is one of many intriguing domestic scraps on the undercard next month which also includes a light welterweight grudge match between Phil Sutcliffe and Tyrone McKenna, a welterweight contest between Belfast’s Paddy Gallagher and recent World title challenger Gary Corcoran, as well as a BBBoC Celtic super bantamweight title fight for Derry’s Tyrone McCullagh versus Joe Ham.
