John Joe Nevin: I’m looking forward to fighting after hardest six months of my life

Former AIBA World No 1 ranked bantamweight and Olympic Silver medalist John Joe Nevin is looking forward to getting back into the ring on Saturday night and putting the ‘hardest six months of his life’ behind him after a career-threatening injury.

Nevin, who had both his legs broken in an attack last April has fought back from his injuries and  makes his return over four rounds in North Carolina.

“When the doctors told me I might not box again it was frightening, but I worked hard, kept my head down and stuck with my team and they stuck with me.

“I’m putting the last six months behind me and looking ahead to my future. Everything is back in place and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to Saturday night.”

“It’s been the hardest six months of my life, sitting there unable to do anything, watching boxing on the television. Thankfully, I now have the chance to do it all again on Saturday night,” said the 25-year-old
