“It’s Time” – Carroll wants Creagh Irish title fight

It’s time! That’s Stephen Shortty Carroll’s message for Sean Creagh.

The pair have name dropped each other regarding a possible all Dublin dust up for the past 18 months, but after an initial back and forth, things quietened down.

Creagh went on to have TV fight with Tyrone McKenna, while Carroll both won and defended the Celtic Nations title.

However, Ballyfermot man Carroll is ready to renew verbal hostilities in a bid to get the fight back on the radar – and it is a clash that could populate the mooted Celtic Clash 3 September 9th card.

“I want the Irish title and I want it right now,” Carroll told Irish-Boxing.com

“Hopefully Sean will step back up and we can get it on. That’s a big fight and one people were talking about before. Hopefully we can get that done as soon as possible. Two Dublin lads fighting for the Irish title it would be a great fight. It’s time we fought now. I hope he wants it.”

“Tony [Davitt] asked Matthew Wilton, but he said he isn’t ready yet and he has a big fight coming up.”

The Ballyfermot favourite was talking following his seventh career win, his first since he registered one of the more impressive away wins for an Irish fighter this season, beating Eddie Doyle in Scotland – a performance his team have suggested means he should be favourite to beat Creagh.

The fighter himself believes that fight did go under the radar.

“I think the win in Scotland went under the radar a bit. Maybe because I only won by a point, but I put him down three times and he held for the rest of the fight. If I hadn’t of dropped him they would have robbed me I’d say,” he added before discussing the Ferenc Janko win.

“He was tough enough. He was hanging on, but anytime I had a go he knew what to do. He had no power so I probably got comfortable enough and dropped the hands a bit.”

“I didn’t have any sparring for this fight after the few tough fights I had, so it was more of rest coming into this fight.”
