Irish ring announcer excels in Matchroom’s MC Academy

Dublin ring announcer Terry Kavanagh had an amazing experience last month.

The popular MC, known for his professional performances at the National Stadium for ‘Celtic Clash’ and Red Corner shows, was selected as one of the final 12 for Matchroom’s MC Academy – a competition which seeks to find a new full-time MC for Sky Sports boxing events.

Kavanagh stood out among 400 entries and made it to the second stage in London.

Here, in front of Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith, JD’s Meridian Dan, and the legendary Michael Buffer, Kavanagh battled it out with the other 11 semi-finalists for a spot in the final. This trio will feature at a public workout and the winner subsequently being chosen via online vote.

Unfortunately, the Dubliner was not one of the three shortlisted for the final but he returned home with a memorable experience, a boosted profile and the same hunger as ever.
