Irish pair to face unbeaten Germans on Belfast show

Ginley Promotions have announced a stellar pair of fights that will top the bill in Belfast next weekend.

‘Danger at The Devenish 2’ will take place at The Devenish Complex in West Belfast on Friday December 1st, and the small haller will feature some tough fights for rising Irish stars.

Headlining the show in a super bantamweight eight rounder will be Derry southpaw Tyrone McCullagh [8(4)-0] and it has been confirmed this afternoon that ‘White Chocolate’ will face Tom Tran [6(1)-0] in a somebody’s-0-has-got-to-go clash.

McCullagh headlined the previous Ginley Promo show at the same venue back in September and at one stage Tran was lined up as an opponent. Instead though he ended up facing BBBoC Central Area super flyweight champ Craig Derbyshire in a frustrating fight which ended via second round disqualification.

In former top German amateur Tran, McCullagh is faced with the toughest fight of his career thus far and, at last, the step up he has craved for so long.

Then, in a six-round light welterweight attraction, Dubliner Phil Sutcliffe Jr [13(8)-2(1)] will feature in perhaps an even tougher fight.

In his first fight back since a controversial stoppage loss to Josh Leather in May, the Crumlin puncher will take on the hard-hitting Andreas Maier [7(5)-0].

The Kazakh-born fighter caused a big shock in January when he stopped 16-1 prospect Atif Shafiq on a Poxon ITV4 bill.

Promoter Ginley said that “both Germans are coming with unbeaten records, they won’t be leaving belfast with them though.”

Also featuring on the card next week will be Paddy Gallagher, Ian Tims, Padraig McCrory, Anthony Upton, Conrad Cummings, Alfredo Meli, and debutant Taylor McGoldrick.
