Irish Invasion Opponent CONFIRMED for Eric Donovan

An opponent has been confirmed for Eric Donovan‘s introduction to the U.K. scene.

‘Lilywhite Lightning’ makes his bow across the water next weekend [Saturday June 22nd], featuring prominently at the famous York Hall in London on a Hellraiser Boxing show dubbed ‘The Irish Invasion’.

Donovan [9(5)-0] won the Irish featherweight title last time out, live on TG4, beating Stephen McAfee and will stay busy in Bethnal Green with a six-round outing.

This evening it has been confirmed that Donovan will take on tough Nicaraguan Moises Mojica [9(6)-7(2)-2] in 11 days time.

23-year-old Mojica turned pro back in 2016 and went 9-6-2 on the dog-eat-dog Nicaraguan scene. Recently he has relocated to Spain, a well-trodden path for many of his countryman, to become an away fighter. His first fight in European came at the start of the month when he was outpointed by Commonwealth Games medallist Sean McGoldrick in Wales, taking a round off the Newport prospect in the process.

Donovan is looking to build from the Irish title and hopes to move onto EU or European level soon – or perhaps a rankings title from one of the four major organisations – while a fight with a British name also appeals.

The 33-year-old has been training steadily in Dublin with Kenny Egan and a big fight in September following this month’s sojourn is on the cards.

‘The Irish Invasion’ bill features another three fighters from these shores. Waterford welter Rohan Daté [8(6)-0-1] will look to move into Irish title contention and in line for the winner of Noely Murphy v Jake Hanney next month, while Cavan light middleweight Dominic Donegan and Kerry light heavy Kevin Cronin will both be aiming to move to 2-0 on the card.
