Irish boxers score stoppage wins in Hungary again

Away from Jason Quigley’s UK debut and Lynn Harvey’s European title tilt, two further Irish pro boxers were in action .

Like they did last month, Robbie Burke and James Power fought at short notice in Hungary where both claimed knockout wins.

The Andy O’Neill-advised pair, who had Declan Geraghty Sr in the corner, were in action at the Sporthall in the Kistarcsa district of Budapest, scoring second round stoppages.

Cork lightweight Power, who is not eligible to take out an Irish licence and box here until after his 18th birthday next month, claimed a fourth straight knockout win, sending his man down to the body.

Dublin super middle Burke, who trains alongside Power under Pete Taylor, followed up his debut stoppage with another here.

Declan Geraghty Jr was also due to appear on the bill but was forced off when he missed his flight and therefore remains at 18(4)-3(2)
