Introducing: Jordan Latimer

Tonight in Manchester sees the debut of young Jordan Latimer.

The 19 year old middleweight has been signed up by experienced manager Steve Wood and has been brought under the wing of up-and-coming coach John Murray (of British and European lightweight title fame).

He will debut at the Victoria Warehouse against experienced survivor Duane Green [4(0)-23(1)-4], and while Latimer is living in Manchester at the minute, there is plenty of Sligo background.

He explained to Irish-Boxing.com that “my grandparents are from county Sligo and I also lived there from the age of 8 to 17 years of age, I boxed most of my amateur career there.”

Latimer boxed at Ballinacarrow BC under Block Reynolds, embarking on a short amateur career, and he admits that “I wanted to be pro from day one. They will tell you that and anyone I boxed with.”

“I was always determined to be pro so when I moved back to England I had had enough of amateur boxing, so I contacted professional coach John Murray to join his gym to turn pro.”

“I’ve improved so much since joining a year ago. And I’m ready now to get win on Saturday. There’s no one I could trust more in my corner than John. He been there and done it.”

Further detailing his background and style, Latimer described how “I only had about 23 fights altogether. I only lost four of them.”

“I always fought with a pro style so it was inevitable that I would be pro in my opinion. I fight in an aggressive, come-forward style and also can box nice, it depends on the style of my opponent.”

Still just a teenager, Latimer is hoping to stay busy initially, but wants to progress quickly. He outlined how “this year I just want to get as many fights as possible, win them all, and get my name out there – so I can get a title shot as soon as possible!”
