Inaugural Wexford Box Cup kicks off tomorrow


A new international tournament will take place in Wexford town this weekend.

The St Joseph’s Community Centre will play host to the first ever Wexford Box Cup which will see over 300 young fighters compete over three days.

An open competition for boxers born between 1999 and 2005, boxers have entered from all over Ireland, Great Britain and Europe.

A high quality field will compete over the weekend including Irish champions Matthew Tyndall, Keeyln Roche, Aaron Kirwan Doyle, Sean Dempsey, and Amber Byrne, as well as top overseas talents such as Awais Ali and Muhammad Ali.

Boxing begins at 1:30pm on Friday, 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday

Tickets for the action are €10 per day or €20 for a weekend pass, and are available at the door.
