“If Tapia wants a war, I’ll give him a war” – Quigley ready to entertain in first headline bout

Jason ‘El Animal’ Quigley is willing to go to war with Glen Tapia [23(15)-3(3)] if the hard-punching ‘Jersey Boy’ wants a scrap when the pair meet for the the vacant NABF middleweight rankings title, live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes on Thursday night.

The Donegal middleweight takes a massive step up against a fighter whose only defeats came against known names David Lemieux, Michel Soro and James Kirkland, and is well aware of the challenge that awaits in just his thirteenth fight.

However, the 25 year old is confident he can pass the toughest test of his career with flying colours and claims that he will show the watching public what the Golden Boy hype is about.

“Glen Tapia has faced some of the best in the middleweight and light middleweight divisions, but I am excited to show a huge audience what I’m capable of in the ring,” said Quigley [12(10)-0].

The headline fight at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio is the first of Golden Boy’s multi-million dollar deal with ESPN, and Quigley is grateful for the faith placed in him by the American promotional giant.

“I’m delighted to be headlining on ESPN on Thursday; it’s a great honor and opportunity. My camp has been amazing – all the hard work has been put in, and I’m ready. I plan on putting on a great show for my American audience and my friends, family and fans back home in Donegal, Ireland,” he added before suggesting he is ready for a shoot-out, much like his recent win over Jorge Melendez, if it comes to that.

“If Tapia wants a war, I’ll give him a war, I’m prepared for anything. Winning this fight brings me one step closer to my dream, winning the NABF title will be fantastic, I still have a long way to go, and am dedicated to making my dream of being a world champion come true.”
