Ian Tims to make return against top English prospect on Fury comeback undercard

Ian Tims [13(4)-5(3)] will return to the ring next month.

The Clondalkin cruiser’s future had looked uncertain after a shock loss to Romanian journeyman Gheorghe Danut in Belfast in December but ‘The Tank’ will roll, at least, one more time.

Tims will feaure on the Tyson Fury Comeback card on Saturday June 9th at the Manchester Arena where he will provide an acid test to a top English prospect.

38-year-old Tims will face managerial stablemate ‘One Smack’ Jack Massey [13(6)-0] on the big bill in Manchester in just over four weeks time.

Derbyshire’s Massey will be fighting for the first time this year following two strong wins in 2017 over Russ Henshaw and Blaise Mendouo and the 25-year-old is aiming to make a breakthrough to domestic title level.

Following a period out after his second win over Michael Sweeney in November 2015, Timsey built up some momentum with a pair of wins over journeyman opposition before being knocked out in the fourth round of a vacant Irish title fight by Luke Watkins. The Dubliner then returned in December but was outworked and upset by Danut.

Also featuring on the BT Sport bill next month will be a vacant WBO light welterweight title fight between Terry Flanagan and Maurice Hooker, as well as appearances for Nathan Gorman, JJ Metcalf, Jordan Thompson, Zelfa Barrett, and a debut for Jack McGann.
