Spike: I will knock out ‘Dancing Queen’ Ogogo and avenge my brother

Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan wants to leave Strictly Come Dancing star Anthony Ogogo doing the Amir Khan dance rather than rumba or waltz .

In fact the Cork middleweight wants to go further than making the London 2012 bronze medalist’s legs wobble uncontrollably, and has promised to knock “The Dancing Queen clean out” if the pair meet.

An Ogogo clash never really looked on the cards as ‘Spike’ has light middleweight plans, but the call out king, who literally talked his way into a Chris Eubank Jr clash, has ironically taken exceptation to the British prospect dropping his name in an IFL TV interview.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com this week the former Irish champion was quick to bring up Ogogo, a former Strictly Come Dancing contestant who is unbeaten in 11 fights and keen to kick on having suffered injuries of late.

“I want Anthony Ogogo. I want him next. He name dropped me and I am not one to turn down a challenge.”

“He said earlier in the year he would be ready for anyone after he got a few wins and knock outs under his belt. He said he would like Billy Joe Saunders, Chris Eubank Jr and myself, that was back in February.”

“Now he has the activity and knocked out the three guys he wanted, so lets see if he is just a dancing queen or if he can back up his fighting talk. He called me out, but he might dance his way around fighting me.”

Spike could see the irony in the fact he was the one being name dropped, but claimed he was eager for a fight he is 100 percent confident he could win by knock out.

“I don’t think much of him as a fighter as a person I hear is alright, but a fighter he isn’t in my league.  I will knock him out. Tell him Spike said ‘I will knock the dancing queen clean out’.  He was a great amateur winning medals at the Worlds and Olympics, but I watched him as a pro and he isn’t in my league,” Spike continued before revealing they have already contacted Team Ogogo about the possibility of making the clash.

“Again I will knock out the dancing queen you better believe it. Paschal has already contacted them to telling them we want it. He called me out so lets see if he is all talk. I will happily go back to middleweight to beat him.”

O’Sullivan also revealed he has a revenge motive for wanting to make the fight. By all accounts the former Team GB star beat his brother Luke in the amateurs.

“He also beat my brother Luke in the amateurs. Luke was outboxing him before Ogogo pinned him against the ropes and my brother somehow injured his back. I want O’Sullivan revenge.”
