Leo Santa Cruz has let out a war cry ahead of his July 30th World title defence against Carl Frampton.

The three-weight World champion puts his WBA featherweight strap on the line against ‘The Jackal’ in the Barclays Centre at the end of the month, and is adamant he won’t be waiting around for the Belfast fighter to snatch his title away.

The Mexican-American has declared war, and claims he is going to put it on the former unified super bantamweight champ from the opening bell in New York later this month.

Known as a high-activity pressure fighter, Santa Cruz confirmed to media at his open workout in the City of Angels Boxing Gym in LA that he won’t be straying far from his tried-and-trusted tactic that has seen him rack up a 33-fight unbeaten streak.

Santa Cruz explained that “it feels great to have this fight, we’ve been calling each other out for some time. Frampton is a a great fighter, but somebody’s undefeated record has to go.

“I do want to make it a war.”

“I’m going to go straight at him, toe-to-toe”

I’m going to do what I have to do to get the win.”

“We’re both gonna go out there and leave everything in the ring, we’re gonna do what we have to do until the last round and that will make for a better fight for all the fans.”
