Hutchinson: ‘Old Man’ McDonagh won’t be able for me at light middleweight

FORGET ‘Cinderella Man’ talk John Hutchinson claims Peter McDonagh is more like Oisin of Tir Na Og fame and told Irish-boxing.com he will prove the ‘Connemara Kid’ is an old man tomorrow night.

The ‘Buncrana Banger’ fights the respected veteran of 36 years and 51 pro fights in Reading, London tomorrow night for the Irish light middleweight title and is in confident mood pre fight.

Former Irish champion, McDonagh has also spoke confidently ahead of the clash and even warned ‘Hutch’ fans that their fighter was about to receive a boxing lesson live on Channel Five.

The Donegal 27 year old, however has an opposing view and says he will be too strong and fit for ‘old man’ McDonagh.

I am more than ready for the challenge. I think this fight has came at the the right time. I can’t write off McDonagh he is a tricky operator, but he is 36 and he’s been in tough fights and I think it will show. The fight is at light middleweight too so I will be bigger and stronger person on the night,” said Hutchinson.

“He reckons he’s going to give me a boxing lesson? I’m not a betting man , but I bet it’s going to be the other way about. I am going to make sure he’s going know he’s a old man in there on Saturday night.”
