Hollywood calling for Aaron McKenna

Aaron McKenna [4(3)-0] is heading to Hollywood.

Ireland’s youngest pro boxer returns to the ring on Saturday August 11th against a to be confirmed opponent.

Just turned 19, ‘The Silencer’ fights for the fifth time since turning over in December of last year  when he trades leather Stateside next month.

Having fought on the Las Vegas Strip, Indio (twice), and Santa Monica, Monaghan welterweight McKenna will now get the Hollywood experience as he appears on another Golden Boy card.

McKenna, who is one of three Irish fighters on the books of Golden Boy alongside Jason Quigley and Spike O’Sullivan, will appear on the promotional outfit’s inaugural Facebook Live Stream Series card at The Avalon venue.

An opponent has yet to be confirmed for the L.A.-based Smithborough teen, but should be revealed soon for the four-round contest.

Last time out the Monaghan fighter stopped Darel Harris and the performance caught the eye of none other than Sugar ‘Ray’ Leonard.

“He congratulated me and said I was very strong for the weight,” McKenna told Irish-Boxing.com when asked what ‘Sugar Ray’ said to him before admitting he is growing in confidence.

“Its a great feeling to know that you can drop someone with either hand. It was also good to get three rounds under my belt in this fight and still get the early stoppage.”

McKenna will be looking for a fourth consecutive here.

The former underage prodigy’s older brother, Stephen, has also turned over with management company Sheer Sports but has yet to given a debut date.

The bill next month is headlined by recent featherweight world title challenger JoJo Diaz who makes his comeback from his loss to Gary Russell Jr with a clash against Jesus Rojas. Also cofirmed for the undercard is another welterweight prospect in Ferdinand Kerobyan.
